Listers,
I'm new to Powerbooks and don't know sic 'em from come here. I
have been going round and round with a 520c. It came to me with a 1 gig
Apple Computer Inc. IBm DMCA-21080 HD and I think I've jacked it up. I can't
get it to take an installation of the original 7.1 from the 520c floppies. I
can get it initialized and mounted via the OS 8 Disk Tools floppy (has HD
Setup Lite that doesn't insist on formatting) I have put in another, smaller
drive and gotten it scrubbed and installed 7.1 andit all works well, so I
give the rest of the machine a clean bill of health. I don't want to give up
on the 1 gig drive though. Internal HDD Firmware is part of the lable; can
I have messed up that? Also, how can you tell a SCSI 2.5" from an IDE 2.5"
drive from just looking?
