Thanks for all the help off-list! I've gotten two kind souls who have sent the software along. Many thanks.
Unfortunately, I can't get the adapter to work! I tried it on my 5300ce (before installing the software) with AppleTalk set to Printer/Modem port and an active link on the ethernet side (link light comes on on both the router _and_ transceiver). However, I couldn't see anything either via AppleShare or LaserWriter 8. Similarly, my Newton 130 wouldn't synch up with my Newton Connection Util on the host Mac via AppleTalk.
Worse, I tried running the Adapter Setup tool, but it failed to find any connected transceivers!
The same thing happens regardless of which RJ-45 port is hooked up to the LAN.
Rats! So it looks like the thing is junk.
What bugs me, though, is that the power LED comes on (faintly) and that the link-light comes on. Clearly the power is working, the case is in good shape, and it's a solid-state device, so physical damage (though not impossible) seems unlikely.
Any other ideas?
Eh, I suppose that's what you get for $7 shipped. Still, the seller didn't say it didn't work... He didn't say it does work, either....
