We have recently upgraded a PB 270C using the Mac upgrade motherboard to get
it up to a 2300 Power Mac.
Initially it worked but after a few minutes it " goes to sleep". No end of
changing and checking bits seems to cure this. We have tried:
Removing the internal battery and restarting
Using an external CD to wipe and reformat the hard drive ) it cut off in the
middle of this operation! )
Checking the RAM is OK by substitution
Checking the screws on the battery terminals
Substituting the HD for a known good one
Starting from adapter or batteries

None of these work. It tries hard but just stops a few minutes into its run
time.If you restart it only goes as far as the Mac welcome screen then
freezes. If its turned off and rebooted after about 5 minutes it will reboot
from the CD.
Anyone got any ideas before we bin the machine and Docks?

TIA

Gerald
