first of all please excuse my english for i am from germany.
my problem is as follows:

- bought a used 3400c wich wont boot up
- checked the pram-battery ->o.k.
- resetted everything i could find to reset

case number one:
-------------------------

if i use the cd-rom module i get the grey screen and the mouse pointer but nothing else.
the mousepointer wont move correctly, only a little bit and then it snaps back to the corner.
this happens only when ive plugged the cd-rom module in and connected an external adb desktop-mouse ( i can use the external mouse or the trackpad simulteanously for moving the mousepointer this little bit ).
if i dont plug in the external mouse i cant move anything.

case number two:
------------------------

if i plug in the floppy-disk module i get this little disk-symbol with the flashing "?".
but now i cant even move the mousepointer a little bit.
when i use the original mac os 8 disk tools 2 disk the powerbook seems to boot up correctly into the desktop with the help tools, but its useless without the ability to use my mouse or the trackpad.
the desktop shows me no harddisk-symbol, but the harddisk is fine ( tested in another notebook ).

hope someone of you has a few helpfull tips cause i wouldnt like to throw this lovely designed, still usefull piece of technic into the trash.
i forgot:

- powerbook 3400c
- 200 MHz
- 80 Mb RAM

thanks, christian
