I just bought this 3400 I'm using right now a week ago and for the first couple days I tried various older versions of IE and Netscape 4.08 and was very disappointed by their responsiveness and crashing since all I've used for a year or so was Safari with no problems.
Then I went back in Low End Mac's website and found an article where they said that iCab was the winner as far as "Classic" browsers. So far I've been using it for a week and am very pleased with it. I've got it set to report itself as IE and my bank works just fine with it. Hasn't crashed on me yet either. You might be better off just trying what I did and not putting any M$ products on your 5300.
