No. the PC card holder simply plugs in to the slot. No software required. You insert your CF card into the holder, put the holder in the slot in your Powerbook and the card (and its contents) show up on your desktop like a hard disk or floppy disk would. The files are right there viewable by name in a finder window. Unless you need to plug something else USB into the computer,m you don't need USB to see your pictures. A flashcard holder is less than $16 at BestBuy, CompUSA, any camera store, etc.
