IIRC, the exchanges I refer to involved several respondents. But I suppose anybody with an axe to grind would be quick to jump aboard.

Well, naturally! But the question you should probably be asking is "WHY does that person have an axe to grind?"
I've had bad experiences with WegenerMedia, and many others have as well. I find it interesting that people DON'T have the same problems with OWC, Small Dog, MacResQ, or any of the other folks (or if they do, they are certainly less vocal). That should set off some warning sirens for you...
It seems to me (and this is my opinion, before David Wedgener cries 'libel') that the real problem results not from misunderstandings in the orders or the occasional faulty product - all companies have those (I recently had a 512MB RAM card for my Pismo from OWC arrive DOA, for example). Rather, the problem is how the dispute is then handled by WegenerMedia. The company simply makes the complainant feel like an idiot, doesn't believe what is being said, and generally makes life very hard for a customer with a problem. When my RAM card was bad, OWC took it back and replaced it, no questions asked. When something similar happened to a friend of mine w/ WegenerMedia, the issue devolved to the point that both sides were threatening legal action over an initial $100 purchase!!!
