Bookies,
I've got my 520c stabilized, networked, and online. I have a
NuPower 166 cpu, 36 mgs ram and 500mg HD with OS 8.1 OE&IE 5, and Office
2000. All seems well. I've never owned a PCMCIA (if I go that right)
card and have only a little reading for info on them. If I understand
aright, they come in Revs A,B, and C, and basically hold nics, including
wireless? I have a scsi stack with two HDs and a cd writer that I can jack
in to the 520c. In getting this one going, I got hold of two "junkers"
from which I made one whole, seemingly good unit and have all the
parts from the other one left over. Question: how do you evaluate
batteries? In my good book, they show about 4 hours life if I have just
charged them up (one in each bay) but this jumps down to 3:40 after
booting? If I were offering these batteries for sale, what would be a
fair and informative description of them? I'm going to get the second book
all spiffed up and put it and the spare parts up for sale, but I don't
have enough experience with the PowerBooks to be confident in what I'm
saying to prospective buyers.
