Thank you. I'll just keep doing what I've been doing, then. :-) <BTW, I'd strongly recommend updating the PB's OS, 7.5.2 is arguably the buggiest Mac OS ever. You can download 7.5.3 free from Apple.> Hmmm, well, maybe THIS is why I can't update it then -- bugs in the way? Yes, I know about Apple's free download of OS 7.5.3 -- and 7.5.5, plus how to do the 2-step upgrade from 7.5.2 to 7.5.5 via 7.5.3. I took the free downloads for both these OS's from Apple months and months ago, tried both Disk Copy and Drive Setup utilities to transform the downloads into installation disks, and no matter what I did, I never even made it to 7.5.3 much less 7.5.5, and 7.5.3 just plain would not install. I'd even gotten my hands on a "real" set of installation disks for OS 7.6 and that wouldn't install either. After numerous failed attempts at updating PB's OS, finally I decided to live with the 7.5.2 it came with -- and thanked heavens I didn't do anything "fatal" to the PB or the existing OS through my failures. After all, even with 7.5.2 I can still word-process with the ClarisWorks 4 app I've been using for years and really like a lot (which is more than I can say for the OS 9.1 on one of my G3's HDs), I can still check/reply to my email and chat with AIM or IRC on the PB when I'm not home. ~Yersinia. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
