I just picked up a free Powerbook 1400cs and I have little idea what I'm doing.
I tried installing SoundApp to listen to music but I can't get it to work.
I was able to expand the file and I end up with a .sit file.
DJ, .sit is a Stuffit compressed file. Do you have Aladdin's Stuffit Expander on the 1400.
If you don't see it obvious, look in the Internet Utilities ...
Don't know the era of the SoundApp, but possibly back to Stuffit 4.x should work.
Current for PPC is 7.0.3 ... I think.
Stuffit Expander is a free download from Aladdin ... Also, some flavor comes on many Mac OS disks.

If you are running os 9 or even 8.6 with a little hack you can run iTunes, I run version 1.x on mine, 2.x crashes for me. Jacob
I'm using 8.0 but I'm willing to upgrade. I just don't know how.
Depending on amount of RAM the machine has, you may want to fall back to OS 7.6.1, otherwise it is usually suggested to upgrade from OS 8 to OS 8.1 for stability and enhancements... free from Apple :

Scroll about 2/3 of the way down ... If you're dialup, Mac OS 8.1 update.smi.bin is about 16 MB, if you have time, or do the 13 parts (disk images) as time permits ...
also get OS 8.1 update/Disk Tools PPC .img.bin (to make a startup floppy),
Scroll almost to the bottom > Utilities > Disk Copy 6.3.3 .smi.bin
Read the Info.txt (text) for all, printout as needed.
I don't need anything too fancy. Just something to play some audio files while I'm typing.
