To start, I was able to try out a 600MHz Compaq Presario 1400 (nice, but dual-scan and I still don't like PC's) for a couple of days on my dial-up connection and noticed a considerable increase in speed over my 5300 (and even from what I remember of my 7500/230 that went away some time ago). I'm sure it's a combination of a fast processor and lots of video RAM...
Would, say, a G4/400 and the cost effectiveness of my cheap dial-up connection ($5.95/month) be satisfactory, or should I keep my 5300 (or get maybe at least a Wallstreet) and get the more costly DSL?
