Perhaps true, but such batteries consist of only a pair of VL-series 3.0 
volt lithium cells and a connecting cable.

While one cannot solder directly to the batteries, these batteries are 
available complete with solder tabs from Digi-Key.

Two such solder tab VL-series batteries, and the remnants of your old 
PRAM battery cable, a little solder, and some insulating tape, and you 
have made your own replacement PRAM battery for under $10 (estimates).

Every PB owner should have a small set of Torx (*), Phillips (+) and 
straight (-) screw drivers.
