You're quite right Dr OM - that was sloppy of me; the PB100 had a lead-acid battery ( heavy, but rugged; lead-acid batteries will put up with a lot of abuse ) unlike the following PBs.

The battery style to which I referred, is the one that fits the 140, 145, 150, 160, 165, 170, and 180 models. The point I was making, was that one may safely use a battery or power supply capable of providing MORE than an earlier model's native supply provided. That is, one may safely use a PB190 power supply to run a PB140.

While I've never owned a PB100, I've heard enough about them to develop a healthy respect for them; they broke ground in a lot of areas. Thanks for edifying my sloppy contribution :)

>The PB145 will draw about 2.5A at startup, and 1.75-2.0A in normal
use (with backlight on). If you can find ANY good 100-series battery,
it will fit the slot, and power the PB145 just fine. Same goes for
100-series Power supplies.

Does 1xx include the PowerBook 100? The power supplies may be exchangeable, but AFAIK the lead-acid PB 100 battery was one-of-a-kind, not even swappable with the Portable's lead-acid. The 140 and 170 had NiCd batts as well as the 145 that replaced the 140. The 190/c/cs was the first to use NiMH batts, the same as the 5300.

Cheers, OM
