Can anyone give their opinion on the tangible speed difference between a 3400/180 and its faster cousins, the 3400/200 and 240? In other words, can you really tell a difference?

in a word, YES. I have both a 240 and a 200. The 240 is pretty good. The 200 is noticeably slower at everythign - about 20% slower (not that surprisingly).
