It has a thorough discussion on adapters and readers for the unique 5.0-volt 
SmartMedia memory cards.  As suggested in that website, I bought from LiveWarehouse 
the inexpensive Lexar Media "universal' USB card reader, which includes a PC-card 
adapter.  I do not have a PowerBook 5300, but the adapter has worked well on a 
PowerBook 3400c, as well as IBM and Sony Windows laptops.
