Back to this:

I stopped in the Microcenter and spoke with a pretty knowledgeable guy. He
took me over to an HP printer with IR and I shot my "card" to the printer
form my T610 phone and it took it and printed it; so . . I think the phone
works.

The guy said that there was a possibility of a baud rate discrepancy, and
that there also might be an IrDA 1? IrDa 2
