Thanks for the suggestion, Brian, the problem is already solved.
I managed to mount the drive via SCSI disk mode from my 3400, using
Mt.Everything and its driver (the original driver didn't work). So I could
pull the contents off the drive and re-initialize the drive. Now the drive
works normally.
Just for the record: Zapping the PRAM didn't change anything.
