Hey Gang; Happy Thanksgiving... Question: I recently obtained a Rev. C PCMCIA adapter for the Powerbook 500-series (520/520c/540/540c/550c), but it seems to be non-functioning...
When inserted in a Powerbook 540c/100 I recently tried to sale on EPay (with the appropriate PCMCIA software), it seem to cause the laptop to not start up. The "Welcome to Macintosh" screen appears, then it seems to hang forever. Cursor still moves; but it will not progress through the Panels and Extensions. I tested it in my 550c/183, which already has its own Rev. C adapter; it did the same thing. Started up my 550c with its own adapter again, it worked normally. The 540c started normally also when I removed the questionable adapter, or inserted the one from the 550c. All of the pins in the rear seem to be reasonably aligned; Has anyone experienced something similar, and knows of a solution? Craig W.
