Larry,

The PowerBook Guy has them listed for $12.95, and I have had good experiences purchasing parts pieces from him, he packs and ships promptly. Otherwise a google search for PowerBook parts will bring a list of others; PowerBook Medic, Daystar, and etc. This website is very helpful for info too:

There 3 #8 TORX screws on the bottom that hold the keyboard down, with the keyboard off the PRAM Battery sits in a slot and is connected to the power supply board by a plug, for info on resetting the Power Manager:

I recently bought a used 5300ce; the date/time is not retained between startups so I suspect that the PRAM battery is dead. A local Mac shop could not replace it citing that "the 5300ce is beyond the age where we're going to be able to order parts. It doesn't even come up on the list of machines I can search for parts for, so we're not going to be able to help you out there... about the only person you'd be able to get one from is anybody who had one on hand before Apple stopped shipping parts for that machine (how long ago that was, I'm not sure). Finding one new would probably be tricky, but there was a battery recall on this unit, I believe, so there might be more of them floating around than normal. I Googled a bit for third party batteries, but I came up empty. I thought there was a company making them, but I was unable to find them."

I therefore appeal to someone on this list who might point me in the right direction to where I might find such an extinct part :-)
