Something's munged, and I can't get it fixed--hopefully someone here can help?

I just finished installing 8.5 on my PB5300, and ran the 8.6 upgrade. Now I can't get the computer to restart without bombing. I had debugger installed when I was running 8.1, and it still is showing. Debugger shows that the error is INT 7 (once 0 ) VM. (Yes, I had RamDoubler installed, 52 physical ram, but I moved all my extensions to another folder prior to installing the new OS--I hope this isn't the problem. :) )

I did get an error when running the 8.6 upgrade that I was missing some help file, but I told it to continue anyway.

I've tried starting up from 2 different CD's, and I get bus error bombs there--starting up with extensions off (both on the CD and the HD) don't make any difference. I don't know if the problem is the debugger, or the copy of 8.6 that's in there now. (one debugger crash from the CD start attempt wit extensions off showed INT 0 RM as the program at the moment.)

I do have as a startup device a CF in the card slot, but I can't seem to get it to access. I could, tho I'd hate to do it, open the case, pull the cable to the HD and have the computer start from the CF that way and reset the startup device (I had changed it from the CF to the HD to test out the 8.6 setup), but I'd like to avoid that if possible.

So--help! How do I get the computer to restart without bombing, maybe from the CF, and at least get back to where I was before?

Later.................Howard
