What OS is on the PC? You should have no problem transferring .jpeg, .pdf, .word etc if you have programs on both end to read them.
Acrobat Reader is free. . You probably have Quicktime.
What is it you are trying to do specifically?

Word on both would help. Or send it as email in plain text to yourself. Or transfer from a website as html. PITA otherwise.
