Subject: pb 520 hinge questions

So I'm taking apart my 520c and I notice my hinge is a bit woblly.
Sure enough one of the plastic bits that the screws attach through is
cracked.

Anybody out there have any tips to fix this, and prevent the other
side from breaking? Should I loosen or tighten these screws?

EZ

What I did was VERY CAREFULLY drill through
the screen assembly and bolt it together. I took off the
plastics surrounding the hinge, took the screen
assembly off with all due care for the ribbon cable,
and drilled holes for two thin bolts per side. I used
washers to avoid stressing the plastic, and locknuts.
It looks terrible when the Book is closed, but has
lasted for years even if it won't make the cover of
'Computer Beautiful' any time soon. It IS fully
functional.
