Having fairly recently been through this with my own 190, I'll try. Here we go: Look on the control strip when you have your 190 plugged into the wall. Do you see the icon which indicates it's plugged in, or is it telling you it's drinking battery juice even though it's plugged in? If you're drinking battery juice while plugged into the wall (this was the symptom I noticed), you've likely got one of three problems. 1. Either your power supply is dead/dying (put a voltmeter on it if you can: it should be putting out 24 volts). If the power supply is good but the battery isn't charging (if you have more than one battery, try with each of them: personally I have two batteries for my 190). Or: 2. It's time for you to buy new batteries (after a time, batteries stop taking and holding charges). Or: 3. You poor thing, your 190 needs surgery. The PB 190 has a known issue where you have to be really careful when it's plugged into the wall, i.e., not yanking or tripping over the power supply's cord because it'll pull something off and/or crack the motherboard. There are people on this list who know a great deal more about this than I do, as well as how to make this repair. If my emailer hadn't hiccupped and ate those emails (I had saved them, and thank you guys), I'd forward the info to you offlist (they sent it to me, and my boyfriend was able to open my 190 and know what would've had to be done "surgically" on the basis of that info), although my 190's problem turned out to be a dead power supply and needs no surgery). ~Yersinia. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
