Hi John,

You're making good progress! I found a nice site for you:
http://kb.indiana.edu/data/aemh.html
It explains a bit about FileTypes, lists some common ones and has a link to where you can download the 'full' list called TCDB.

Thanks, I've glanced at it and bookmarked it.

But why not get on the web yourself with your 190 now?

I don't have an ethernet card yet. Even if I had a modem, I don't have dialup access.

Regarding LineFeeds, there are many nice utilities to do away with them.
I like Tex-Edit Plus 2.2, which is shareware ($10), but you can also use Tex-Edit 2.7.2 ($5):
http://members.aol.com/tombb/ or
ftp://members.aol.com/tombb/
I just see that they don't offer 2.2 anymore, but 4.1.3, for $15.

I tried Claris at the suggestion of another member, and it does indeed strip out the linefeeds. Unfortunately, it also strips out all formatting, so the text files that were nicely formatted and easy to understand on linux and Windows are now a jumble of words, with few or no EOL's, and no indentation or paragraphing. To get 7.5.5 onto my 190, I had to read the instructions on my linux machine and do them on the 190.

Will Tex-Edit help there?

Oh, I still haven't found a web browser for 7.5.5. Any suggestions?

John
