This reminds me of the time I got thrown off the PCI . A lister wrote in and bragged about how low he got a fabulous computer for used. I said he was gloating and suggested a late winter " Gloat Fest." Bragging rights being the prize.

The winner was to be the one saying he or she had the most fabulous PCI Mac for the cheapest cost. That ratio being arbitrarily judged .
One entry even bragged of having " Woz " personally give her a prototype Mac.

This got so popular It choked the bandwidth. I was thrown off . None of us could stop talking about the subject. I had to do a fast ma culpa, And came to learn the wisdom of non-OT. Yeah, it fills dead wires and mail clients. But can grow to detract from listers getting fast help for problems that keep their machines down. Which is the purpose of the lists. LEM pays by usage also. And without LEM we users of older gear would have a much harder time getting and keeping our machines up.

After a few more instances like this the PCI list loosened up enough that ;isters didn't feel repressed anymore and the humor is more balanced

Some listers also said they didn't want people to know what Macs they had for fear paople would find out where they lived and steal their rare or valuable machines.

But offline I would like to know about the most tricked out Macs. Real or imagined. But lets be serious no G5 SE's please. But,Maxxed out upgrades , outrageous hardware hacks that really work. And case mod with surgery or paint..

And offline again please, and more importantly, what do you do with your Macs? And how do you do it? Oddball peripherals, scientific instruments, sensors, apparatti, machinery, control modules. Scientific research, unusual artwork. Personal pleasure etc.

Evidently everyone is interested in how big theirs is but can't say anything about how they use it !
