OK, Gang. Looking for a little guidance here.
Just "inherited" a G3 Wallstreet 233 no L2 cache. Read: client
bought new 17" G4 PB...a shock to her system, I must say...! She
felt less than a connection with her old trusty workhorse, and it
ended up in the dustbin, along with all its attachments. Those
attachments include: zip drive & CD (both internal modules) external
modem (56k) USB PCM/CIA card & Microsoft USB mouse, travel bag
(brand new...!).
So, it was sort of a good package, and I couldn't think of it being
carted off to the dump. Now, I have another client whose daughter
has been awarded a scholarship to University, starting this fall. I
would like to give this to her as I know her folks can't afford to
get her a computer for school. (She has worked out a plan to lease
time on a schoolmate's computer, plus use the school's computers as
much as she could. Enterprising young thing!)
Currently it runs OS9 perfectly adequate, but I'd like to speed
things up to run OSX.
I also want to add an internal modem & wireless card. I have sourced
the modem, but I need some advice on two things.
1) What wireless card would be the best choice for this box
2) Would installing the L2 cache card be enough of a boost or can
I/should I upgrade to a higher mhz?
The pb is pretty much mint, apart from these things.
Any help would be appreciated.

Under 9.X, the Orinoco cards work just fine. Get a second hand one
for $20-30 at most.
You apparently have a rev 1 Wallstreet, which can use any of the rev
1 or 2 CPU cards. Any other CPU card you get would be better than
what you have, as all the others inclide some L2 cache. Wegener
media is selling G3/400 cards for ~$99 or so.
Running X can be tricky. While you can run 10.2.X with no trouble,
getting 10.3.X or 10.4.X requires X Post Facto to install those OS
versions. I am struggling with getting 10.3 to install on my
Wallstreet.
