Just for clarification..... I swapped the whole screen assembly on the 1400, not just the LCD which cannot be swapped without the correct active-matrix cable from what I understand. It's a lot easier to swap the whole assembly anyway. It helps to take the CPU out first so the monitor can be plugged into the 2 connectors on the board of the 1400 which can be a little tight to get to of you have big clumsy fingers like mine.
Never did a swap on a 520 with a 520c screen so I can't say if it will work. The 520 to 520c conversion probably has more to swap since it's a black and white video to color video.
