Morning all,
Been a long while since I've posted here. I just picked up a Lombard
the other day, of course it has problems but it's got enough good
things going to make it worth resurrecting. Good screen, dvd/rom w/
decoder, fair battery, a 256 mb chip. It's got a new 20 gig drive
installed w/ 9.2.2.
The bad side, the motherboard was dead and no power supply. I've
borrowed a friend's failing L2 Cache G3 400 mobo for the weekend and
power supply, which is allowing me to play around with getting it set
up. But I'll eventually need to find replacements for both. It has a
256 and 64 mb Ram but hope to find another 256 of the right type that
will give me 512.
Problem: Will not restart. I can shut down and then start up, but
cannot simply Restart. Trying to do so requires use of the reset
button. Would this be indicative of a low pram batter, a bad L2
Cache, or something else? With the inability to restart, I am having a
little trouble installing Jaguar too. I plan on moving up to Panther
and eventually using the firewire enclosure method to install Tiger,
but first things first.
I guess I'm also curious if anybody has been using a failing L2 cache
mobo long term? If so, how's that working out?
Other Question: Any guidance is appreciated in the search for the
appropriate type of low profile 256 Mb Ram Stick that will allow full
512 ram.
