What is a transciever and where do I get it? How much?
You will not need any additional software. Should be a usual
DHCP Ethernet connection.
That's the AAUI adapter that plugs into the small d-connector on the back
of the 540. The adapter will then have an ethernet connector on the
end--usually it's an RJ-45, but when buying be careful--there are a few
round-cable connectors (B-something?) available. These adapters go on
ebay for a buck or two.
What is this? How do I set up?
Set your TCP/IP control panel for DHCP, have OpenTransport on your
machine, and set AppleTalk to on--you should be good to connect via your
browser, telnet, fetch or other program.
