Although I edited all your techie troubleshoot/repair comments for brevity, it sounds to me like you probably did everything possible to resurrect your 5300. Listen, if it comes to this, I got the sweetest deal imaginable on my 5300c ($30 for the 5300c + $7 shipping), and the seller -- who was such a pleasure to do business with that the next time I want to buy Mac stuff, I'll email him first and only post a WTB on the swap list if he doesn't have what I want -- has a bunch of various 5300s for price ranges of $20-50 plus shipping. I suggest you talk to him about either parts (if you want to make more repair attempts) or getting another 5300 (I love mine, and don't blame you for having loved yours).
