Opinions and advice please Listers,

A group of PC users has kindly( ? ) told me that I would be appalled if I saw all of the Trojan Horses and Worms working in the background within my OS 9.1 system and greedily taking all of my personal info back to their masters for nefarious purposes.

They could not give specifics of course(!) Or suggest a utility to directly investigate the truth of this claim.

I would think that in the five years I have been on this list I would have heard at least one horror story related to this yet recall none.

So If anyone has had their reputation ruined for devulged info that they were looking at pictures of weasels mating or had their credit ruined by a Trojan horse that got them ten thousand subscriptions to Gerontological Weekly please let me know off list and how you found out and what you did to get rid of the problem in OS 9.1

I reported the results of my question to one of those who suggested the problem,

Here is his response;

Drop the subject. Just because Akron Public Schools had a massive case of viral infections running rampant doesn't mean jack. We must have made it up. Case closed. You guys know everything. Don't ask either of us for an opinion on it in the future.

Most people can leave their homes unlocked too - but one of these days, someone's going to walk in.

We lock our doors and plan security because we don't trust the world.

well actually they brought it up. I didn't ask. But was scoffed at for using a Mac. Evidently 21 responses from 2 Mac lists comprising 1200 Mac users doesn't mean jack either.
And out of the 21 not one mentions an OS 9 virus,Trojan Horse or Worm.
And none report having seen one since about 1990.

And saying that viral infections in the Akron public schools ( kids or computers?) Does not tell me whether there were PCs in the forefront of that system or not.
