Versinia, I leave my 1400 plugged into the outlet a hundred persent of the time. The little light on the outside of the screen always is blinking. But mine doesn't have the problem with going off and refusing to come back on.
Don't know why Macintoshes seem to have that problem, especially from the iMacs on. A friend sold his bondi blue to me because he thought surely it was dying or close to dead. He couldn't leave for only a few moments when it would go to sleep, and then it wouldn't wake up. I have turned off the sleep, period. It will stay on all day and work fine. But, once turned off, the next time we put it in use, we have to unplug it and replug it so that it will come on. The big problem with working on any desktops for me, is arthritic back and scratches and cuts. I just don't work on them unless I absolutely have to. My uMax 600 G3, needs a good/better diskette drive, and I have simply put it off until I absolutely have to and use the Zip Drive. If I had known, all those years I spent working on lawnmowers and computers, how much damage it would eventually do to my back, I wouldn't have done it. I am now govermentally certified as 100% disabled. I'm going to have to get a better laptop, because I can no longer sit in front of desktops for much longer than 15 minutes. And, ... I have a half dozen G3 Desktops and one G4, not counting the hundreds of other Macs we collected while our kids were around to do the lifting.
