Yes, the keyboard works. Coming to you from this selfsame 5300c now -- 
I've been using it solid and exclusively since last Tuesday (and had no 
problems using it on its moderate-use schedule previously). Couldn't be 
doing that if the keyboard didn't work. HOWEVER......

I am infamous for my uncoordinated left hand accidentally turning the 
caps-lock on -- which quickly becomes obvious when I'm writing or doing 
email (in which case I turn it off and retype). I will try everything 
again and this time be certain it's off.
