Subject: "Best" b&w laser printer for 3400c running OS 8.6
Dear powerbooks list,
To all powerbook 3400c owners/knowledgeable persons...
What is your opinion regarding the "coolest", "affordable", and
so-called "best" black & white laser printer to be connected to a
3400c running OS
8.6 ?? My needs are basically text documents and black & white
graphics (no need for the "best" resolution or dpi). Please
consider in your
opinion(s) cost of printer today, availability, and needed (could
be rare)
drivers.
I looked in my Chooser and the icon for the Apple Laserwriter 300
caught my eye. It looks cool but is it "really" and realistically
"cool" when connected to my 3400c?
Yes, I would like to get a b&w laserprinter for my 3400c and perhaps I
feel "guilty" about going to eBay for it.
Well, I'm not a 3400 owner but I have a LaserWriter 16/600. Bought
for $100 a couple of years ago, it's still natively supported in OSX
Tiger and of course I can use it whenever I fire up the old SE/30
running 7.5 or PowerBook 540c with 8.1. It sits on the ethernetwork
here and I can print from anywhere in the house, wired or wireless.
It has a 300,000 page engine, mine has about 45,000 now.
Laser printers are the way to go for printing text. No matter how
much hype you read from inkjet makers, they still don't get the dots
on the page the way a laser will.
