I am in the process of restoring a Powerbook 150 "on the cheap". [Yes, I suppose I need a better hobby. :) ] The main battery is kaput, but that's OK. This will just be a "museum piece" running on the AC adapter, not meant for use on the road.

When I received it, the 150 would only boot intermittently. Opening it up showed one likely reason: the PRAM battery shows some leakage and/or corrosion around the negative (-) terminal. This battery is a Varta 2.4v 60mAh NiMH unit. I can obtain a replacement from MANY sources for a pretty steep price, usually in the neighborhood of $27.

Good old Mouser.com <http://Mouser.com> does not carry that specific battery, but they do have a Varta battery with Mouser part number 672-55608303012 <http://www.mouser.com/index.cfm?handler=displayproduct&lstdispproductid=413605&e_categoryid=169&e_pcodeid=67206>. This is a 2-pin 3-cell 80 mAh NiMH battery designed for "memory protection and Real Time Clock support". All for the more palatable price of $5.66! The old battery was a "flat pack" with the two cells side by side. This new one has three cells in a stack, but I am sure I can tuck it in somewhere.

Voltage is not stated in the Mouser catalog, so I am taking a bit of a guess and assuming that it's the same. Does this seem like a reasonable replacement, or am I overlooking something? (Or is there an even BETTER [cheaper/smaller] battery out there for this application?)
