That's a common problem with Mac specific install CD/DVD's. Most install disks that came with specific Macs like iBooks, Powerbooks, eMacs and iMacs will not work on anything but what it was bundled with. I have seen some eMac disks that work as universal installers and I have a grey iMac OS 9.1 CD that is a universal installer and works with anything.
