The hinges are probably broke or else the plastic is cracked where
the screw goes in. To fix either problem, you either need new hinges
or a whole new back panel. There is no easy fix; believe me. Any fix
which involves drilling holes works for a while but doesn't hold up
plus makes the whole computer look like it is some science project.
Greetings,
I just got a PB 540c from eBay (arrived in the mail yesterday), and I
noticed that the hinges are really loose from the back plastic display
panel. Wondering it there is an easy fix for this? If at all possible,
I don't want to take the LCD panel out of the case. The last time I
did this (on another 540c), the LCD would not work (backlight came on,
but picture remained dark). This hinge problem is making me very
paranoid about the usefulness of the unit. I did find something on the
internet about the 500 series hinge problem, but all the links that I
found returned a 404 error.
