Well that was probably the strangest thing I've ever had happen with a Mac - I opened it up, with battery removed and adapter disconnected. Everything inside looked great. Just for the heck of it, i plugged in the ac adapter. Nothing when i tried to start. UNplugged, sat for at least half an hour. I toggled the battery switch down, nothing, then back up - I heard the faintest sound from the speaker. I plugged in the adapter - nothing. I then put it back together, and turned it on, and it booted. No idea why. If the PRAM was corrupted, I would think 5 days unplugged would have cleared that.

My battery is bulging, however,. Not a good sign, methinks ;-). It holds no charge at all.
