Well, nuts. I dloaded it, and its only an updater. Where do I
get 2.5.X ? I vaguely recall some sort of trick with this software.

IIRC, GV liked to SAY it was an upgrade file, but it really
contained all the stuff you would need. I had a GV modem in my 6400.
I'd just install it and I'm quite sure that all will be well.

It doesnt install. Thats the problem. The installer wants an
earlier version present.
The trick is backing up out of the ftp link that GW serves up for the
update software:
<ftp://ftp.globalvillage.com/pub/software/mac/
PP500Duo_2.5.5_Update.sea.bin>
Copy the link, then edit it to:
<ftp://ftp.globalvillage.com/pub/software/mac/>
And you can browse to the stuff you need, in the "Previous" folder,
there's a PowerPort 2.05 file, as well as a folder of disk images.
This won't work with the 2.5.5 updater, but it'll work, at least.
Googling for PP500Duo found this link for the 2.5 drivers <http://
www.modem-drivers.com/drivers/8/8142.htm> They require 'free'
registration, but it's worth a shot.
I also may have it laying about here. I'll fire up the ol' 540C to
see if it's on there.
