With those specs, I would clearly advise upgrading the RAM in your 1400. It really takes 64 MB of RAM to really make 9 sing, at the least. Of course, I haven't run 9 on anything less than a G3 Lombard with 192 MB of RAM and the 400 MHz processor, so I can't speak for a 1400.
