3400c for sure. Other way around can be a problem as the 3400 can take a thicker drive. I don't know about the 1400c. The 5300 (which is older) has different mounting hole patterns. You can still do it in a 5300, you just need to drill new holes. So it depends on whether the 1400s hole pattern is new or old. Worse case is you'd need to drill new holes.
