*Position: Database Architect*

Duration: Long Term Contract

Location: Madison, WI



*Description:*   The PD qualifications for a Database Architect-3 require a
higher level / specialized skill set in order to perform the duties for
this position.  This position will collaborate with the Database
Administrators and the Architects, (Integration and Application) in the
planning, analysis, design, development, testing and implementation of data
relationships that will improve on the performance of data access and
provide the structural path for the Application Developers when using the
SOA Methodology.
  Key Skills / Requirements

*IS Data Services Consult/Admin – Data Architect*
Tools and techniques used in these positions include, but are not limited
to;

   - Experience in Data Dictionary Creation and Functionality
   - Experience Data Modeling
   - Experience in data definitions, data models, data flow diagrams, etc.
   (in short metadata)
   - Experience/knowledge in designing and building relational
   databases/schemas for Enterprise Application Integration
   - Experience in programming language PL/SQL and understanding of Java/XML
   - Experience in developing project scope documents, process flow
   diagrams, entity-relationship diagrams, other system documentation
   - Experience in Project Management skills to ensure that analysis,
   testing and methodologies are appropriately used and that standards and
   policies are adhered to SOA architecture standards
   - Lead/assist in developing and maintaining a formal description of the
   data attributes and data structures



*Responsibilities are in the following focus areas:*

·         Leads discussion with DBA’s in determining database structural
requirements for projects by analyzing technical requirements,
applications, and programming;

·         Develops data relationship solutions by designing proposed
system; defining database physical structure and functional capabilities,
security, back-up, and recovery specifications.

·         Installs data architecture for systems by developing flowcharts;
applying optimum access techniques; coordinating installation actions;
documents actions.

·         Maintains database performance by identifying and resolving
production and application development problems; calculating optimum values
for parameters; evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases;
completing maintenance; answering user questions.

·         Provides the leadership in directing the application developers
on best practices

·         Provides database support by coding utilities, responding to user
questions, and resolving problems.

·         Work with the business to identify key decision points and build
decision models to identify business rule sets.

·         Extract business rules for documentation, application code, or
other sources working with DBA’s and Architect’s to assist in the business
rule design and ensure rules reflect the business intent and result in the
desired business behavior.
