>Notepad crashed and now has a bad data >fork (Norton). I installed a fresh copy from 8.1 >CD and it launches but it doesn't work either. Remember there's two parts to Note Pad. the actual app you see under the Apple menu (or wherever) and all your "stuff" -- the Note Pad file in your System folder. If by "doesn't work either" you mean your stuff is gone, that isn't Note Pad (the app), but the Note Pad file. That's why replacing the app didn't fix the problem. Opening Note Pad file in a text editor such as BBEdit reveals ... not much. But if you can't extract it any other way and the data's lost, trash this file, or Note Pad may never work again. -David -- Power Computing is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... 123Inkjets.com <http://lowendmac.com/ad/123inkjets.html> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Power Computing list info: <http://lowendmac.com/power/list.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> List archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/powercomputing%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Macintosh?
