You have received some good answers. DON't HOT SWAP ABD devices! I
cringe when people  disregard that. Years back I lost (permanently
disabled) a "Port Juggler" due to "hot plugging". I've heard other
horror stories. Seems like one was in MacUser Mag.   RHB
