> Can anyone comment on using IDE CD's in the Powerbase?
I think that almost any IDE drive should work. Most of the newer one's are
backwards compatible to the earlier (slower) IDE interface in the PowerBase.
The new drive will run at the slower speed of the interface.
I have a PowerBase 240. I haven't tried changing my built-in CD-ROM drive.
However, I have ADDED a 2nd internal CD-ROM (a Maxtor Lightspeed ATA drive)
but I had to install another IDE interface card in a PCI slot. I have a
friend with a PowerBase 200 and he installed a second internal CD-ROM drive,
a Maxtor Lightspeed SCSI drive. So either SCSI or IDE should work. Our
Maxtor drives are both at least 5 times faster than the original.
