You shouldn't have a problem running a third party or Apple CPU in the
PowerTowerPro.
The PTP is based on the same motherboard as the Mac 7300~9600 (preKansas).

This is not true of the PowerCurve/PowerCenter/PowerTower or
PowerCenterPro's however,
as they are based on the Mac 7200 board which did not have the removeable
processor
feature.
Let me clarify that... they won't run 604e Apple daughtercards, but they
will run third party cards that have the drty line included (Apple's do
not) eg. Daystar, PowerLogix, Newertech
