These two Macs are essentially the same; the
6500 having some added oomph.

Look for two screws in the vicinity of the two
tabs that stick out from the back (vertically
oriented). Remove the screws and gently pull
on the tabs. The motherboard assy. comes
out this way.

Each model has two RAM slots. The lonely
slot is for L2 cache. If for some reason the
6500 has had it's L2 removed, transfer it from
the 6400, or if it never had it, spend the $5 or
$10 to find 256k of L2 cache.

Pay attention to the release lever for the RAM
stick (you push down to "eject" one end), and
make sure when putting the RAM in the other
Mac it's seated properly (the lever moves up).

When putting it back together, be careful
you've got it lined up correctly. That last slight
push seats the mobo. The back must fit flush,
just as it did before you began. It's pretty
straightforward.

>2) What memory sticks does this thing take

Essentially the same 168 pin DIMMs as in the
6400, so...

>have

Both the 6400/6500 have two standard PCI
slots.
