Fred,

I'd be curious how they appear to ASP when
installed in the PTP, since it sounds like you
haven't tried that yet. What I'm getting at is that
might shed some light as to whether they're
simply not fully compatible with the Mac or if
they might be damaged in some way that only
allows half of each to work (unlikely...).

Behind door number 3 is the chance you didn't
fully seat one of them, but it really sounds like
you know what you're doing.

As to the "can't get beyond 128MB" barrier: My
guess is you can. These things only get
certified for whatever the maker can certify
them with at the time of introduction.

So if 128MB or 256MB or 512MB RAM sticks
become available or popular a few years later
in that same type, you'll never hear about it.
They won't go back and revise the specs to
announce (let alone test for) that big RAM and
hard drives will work. Won't hurt to try?

For example: I'm using right now a 128MB and
one 256MB in my old iMac, which is only
certified by Apple for a max of 256MB (2 128's).

Now one for you: Is the small volume knob on
the back up near the monitor port just for the
sub?
