Well I also wouldn't be overwhelmingly shocked at a defective CD drive...but I've never had a problem with the v7.6 driver.
But I think you misunderstood my original message...DON'T use Hard Disk Toolkit. If you're lucky, CD-ROM Toolkit will work for the CD. Another point...I sometimes had mysterious CD problems because of a defective fan in the power supply. Might want to check the back and make sure the fan is working. James "Walter P.
