I'm guessing you mean the Energy Saver Control Panel? It saves it's 
settings to PRAM, so removing the control panel has no effect.

Put the control panel back in place, and change the sleep setting to "Never".

But why would you want to leave your HD spinning all the time? Sleep 
modes for the computer not only reduce wear and tear, they save you 
money on your electric bill. And you won't be wasting power, which is 
a very good thing.
